As a local FnB Hero, what qualities do you think are essential in your job?
The most important is being able to keep a level head while working under pressure. Some days you may have had to do 8 hours in the office dealing with problems, and then step into service with a smile on your face. For this same reason multi-tasking, time management, and understanding of different cultures and nationalities are extremely important.
What recommendations would you give to anyone wanting to become a Beverage Manager?
I think that they need to appreciate that what we do is not just a job, it’s a lifestyle choice also. You have to love this industry, and more importantly, need to love people. Learn as much as you can; whether that be from cocktail books/blogs/internet articles, and of course the people around you. It will always help you stay ahead of the curve, and make your job more enjoyable.
What do you think are the challenges in today’s FnB market and how do we anticipate tomorrow?
Dubai is a very dynamic market, so people come here for a couple of years only. Dubai is a great hospitality school as people gather strong FnB experience and then they can easily move across the globe.
So new talent is always in high demand and we will see more and better talents arriving soon.
Why would you recommend FnBnation?
FnBnation it is a great tool that is industry-specific and it considers timing, which is very important; when you need to bring people inside the business quickly. It is also great because it applies science and technology and will help people to understand themselves and companies to make better hiring.
